LANGUAGE LEVELS

There are 6 different levels, from absolute beginners to advanced level. In any event, it is necessary to pass an end of course test in order to progress to the next level. Normally 60 hours are sufficient to reach the levels described by the CEF (Common European Framework).

 


Level A1
For absolute beginners: at the end of the course you will be able to give simple information about yourself using the present tense and everyday speaking.
Level A2
You will learn to describe something that happened in the past. You will be able to form simple answers when somebody asks you a question. You will study the future tense.
Level B1
Now you understand people talking to you directly and you can hold a conversation on topics you are familiar with. You learn how to be able to speak about emotions, dreams and express personal opinions. You will make the leap from expressing yourself at a functional level to achieving a certain level of fluency in the language, accompanied by a greater comprehension of the Italian way of life.
Level B2
At this level you have no comprehension difficulties in everyday situations. You are able to understand most TV and radio programmes.You will learn to express yourself in less common or more emotively complicated situations. You will understand and use  grammatical tenses correctly. You will learn how to speak in the situations which require the use of formal or technical language. You will also learn how you can defend your point of view or express disappointment or disagreement.
Level C1
At this level you learn about situations which require technical vocabulary or non standard grammatical structures, e.g. in public or legal offices; regarding writing skills you should be able to create logical and comprehensible texts of diverse function (both formal and informal). You will learn to express your ideas at a more abstract level by perfecting your grammar skills and dominating idioms, as well as increasing your familiarity with culture and knowledge of Italy.
Level C2
Now you are able to communicate fluently. The course will focus on refining your oral and written skills while developing a global perspective of Italian culture allowing the lerner to distinguish between the various regional accents and expressions. This is the final stage.
